Hybrids, today's technology: forget the plugs

There are currently different technologies focused on improving efficiency and reducing the polluting emissions of automobiles. Without a doubt, the support of the electric energy to the petrol engines adds interesting advantages without firing the costs.

Shoot the costs.

The hybrid technology with the greatest presence in the market is the one that, instead of using plugs for the replacement of electricity of the batteries, it opts for the recharge in motion. That is, never suffers from the discharge of the battery because the level of this or the distance of a plug, because even without the driver has to vary his attitude to the steering wheel, the energy reaches the battery.

Moreover, it never comes to discharge absolutely, so these hybrids autorrecargables without plug, are always ready to circulate and, unlike electric vehicles with their autonomy limited by the battery, the driver is free of stress that could cause to run out of energy.

By being able to recover energy when it is not accelerating — the wheels then move an electric motor that works as a generator — in the city it is possible to make two-thirds of the time used in the routes exclusively with the energy of the batteries, so that the thermal engine remains off. That means not only less fuel consumption, but also a significant reduction in polluting emissions.

The driving pleasure is another advantage of this type of car which, without clutch, reduces the work of your driver. They are also very soft and quiet.

Hybridisation: All the advantages of eco

Hybrid vehicles have, for the DGT, the consideration of eco-vehicles. Having this label allows users of this type of car not only the reduction or exemption of rates and taxes, also advantages at the time of parking or, if there were restrictions for episodes of high pollution, also to avoid restrictions of access to large cities.

In Madrid, for example, it does not matter that the registration of the ECO vehicle is odd or torque to be able to circulate or have a bonus of 50 percent in the rates of the being — both in the blue and green areas. In some cities (Alcobendas, San Sebastián de los Reyes ...), it even becomes 100 percent. In addition, in many municipalities, the circulation tax rate is 80 percent.

In the metropolitan area of Barcelona there are also specific advantages, such as being able to circulate in the bus/Vao Lane without having to attend to a particular occupation of the vehicle; Access to discounts of up to 30% in the tolls of the Generalitat by using eco via t or, in the Parkings Saba, to benefit from the same savings using also as means of payment via T.

Hybridization: Pocket Economy

The price of a self-charging hybrid comes to be equivalent to that of a diesel of the same range. That is, despite its greater technological burden, its acquisition does not imply an extra increase in the rate. These cars can benefit from subsidies or temporary purchase aids.

Another source of savings derives from its reliability. In fact, the batteries in these hybrids have the same useful life as the other components of a vehicle, so it will never be necessary to replace it. So Lexus, the brand that now sells all of its cars exclusively with hybrid propulsion systems with its battery recharge without the need for plugs, is a leader in the most reputed reliability ratings.

An important aspect is the costs of use and, in these, the role of fuel consumption. The CT200h is the compact of lower average consumption and, in addition, it homology a mixed of only 3.6 L/100 km of gasoline. This, by itself, hardly implies a cost of 4.37 euros/100 km. Even the average consumption of the entire Lexus range is very low, with a figure of 5.07 L/100 km, when the average power of its hybrids is 230 cv. No premium range has more adjusted consumptions.

Hybridization: Lexus, 100% range without plugs

Although there are many manufacturers of hybrid vehicles, only one has a hybridized range of one hundred percent. This is Lexus, premium Japanese brand with more than twelve years of experience in the manufacture of this type of vehicles, and of which today circulate in Spain 25,000 units. This amount represents 95 percent of high-efficiency vehicles (hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and electrics) marketed in the premium segment. In the world, there are over a million Lexus in motion.

Its first hybrid was the RX400h, launched in 2004 and since then, more than 100,000 people have led a hybrid in Spain, adding a total of 2 billion kilometers.
